One of the many services that we offer here at Take Wellness is the Weekly Hot Tub Clean. Which is one of the best ways to guarantee a sparkling Hot tub ready for action when you need it. Here’s a step-by-step look at what we do—and why it matters:
1. Cover Inspection & Removal
-
Visual check: We examine the cover for holes, scrapes, or wear—these can raise repair costs and compromise heat retention. Remember, a well-maintained cover typically lasts around six years.
-
Inspect the Cover Lifter: Check the hydraulic arms and hinges for any rust or damage, that it is still fully functioning and make sure any foam stoppers are in place.
2. Water Quality & Level Check
-
Clarity check: We are looking for clear, blue water which signals a good healthy balance.
-
Level inspection: Levels slightly low? This could be from evaporation (especially in heat), general use, or though rare it could also be a leak.
-
Refill with hose: We refill the tub to the correct level while continuing on with the checks and maintenance.
3. Filter Maintenance
-
Switch to maintenance mode: After powering down and switching the tub to maintenance. We open the compartment, take out the filter.
-
Soak: Rinse off debris, then we spray with filter cleaner and leave it for about 10 minutes. Then rinse thoroughly to ensure no cleaner remains—residual chemicals can harm the water.
- Reinstall: Carefully return the filter, even pressure on both sides, then replace the housing and release the air pressure.
4. Sanitiser & Water Chemistry
-
Tablet dosing: Adding two sanitiser tablets to the Brominator, setting to the small-triangle setting for ultra-slow release over the week. This prevents chlorine spikes and should be the ideal release for regular domestic use.
-
Dip-tester strip: Check key levels—chlorine, pH and alkalinity —and tweak if necessary.
-
Shock/granules: If chlorine reads very low, add granules to give it a boost.
5. Jets, Lights & Foam Control
-
Run jets & lights: Turning everything on to visually check all functions are operational and even out circulation.
-
Foam control: Adding foam eliminator if excessive bubbles appear, letting the jets work it through until it reduces.
-
Jet-check: Test diverter jets; they should turn easily under pressure—not be stiff or stuck.
6. Visual Cleaning & Debris Removal
-
Surface clean: Wipe down the hot tub shell, remove debris and residue around the edges.
-
Level double-check: Make final adjustments to water level before powering down again.
7. Final Checks & Re-secure
-
Close lid: Clip storm straps back in place and give the cover a final wipe down to keep it fresh and prolong its life.
8. Service Record via App

We finish by logging everything in Service Mate—our service-management app.
