CHOOSING YOUR PERFECT HOT TUB

When deciding to purchase a hot tub, there are many factors to consider. To help you with  your decision, Take Wellness has created a quick buyer’s guide to help you choose your perfect hot tub.

INFLATABLE HOT TUB VS PERMANENT

Inflatable Hot Tubs and their low retail price may appear cost-effective but the plug-and-play models are convenient, but not ideal for regular use throughout the year.

Being plug-and-play, means inflatable hot tubs run on a regular plug rather than being hard-wired into a dedicated power supply. Plug and play offer fewer hydrotherapy features primarily because the jets are considerably weaker and not powerful enough to deliver a decent Hydrotherapy massage.

As you would expect, inflatable hot tubs are considerably lower in quality than a Hydropool Hot Tub. Also, there is no comparison sitting in an acrylic spa molded to your body compared to an inflatable. Many hot tub owners’ primary reason for purchasing a hot tub is to relax and entertain family and friends. Inflatable hot tubs tend to be round rather than square, so fewer people can fit in, making it a less sociable experience.

Finally, inflatable hot tubs are not very energy efficient. They allow large amounts of heat to escape and take forever to heat up. An inflatable hot tub may seem like a fantastic deal but are in fact extremely expensive to run. So over time, an inflatable hot tub will cost you considerably more money in running costs than a permanent hot tub.

IN-GROUND OR ABOVE GROUND?

Many gardens that have been landscaped like the idea of an in-ground or sunken hot tub rather than positioning the tub above ground.

Although aesthetically, pleasing placing a hot tub in-ground incurs higher landscaping costs and more challenges in regards to maintenance, due to a lack of accessibility. So if there is an issue with your hot tub, you’ll need a specialist technician to help solve the problem and potentially the need to excavate to get to fix the issue.

In and above ground, it’s essential that your hot tub is placed on a level base that will be able to hold the weight of the hot tub, the water, and occupants. In-ground hot tubs do look visually spectacular but you’ll have to decide if the maintenance and cost implications make it a workable solution.

YOU CLEAN OR SELF-CLEAN?

When you think about buying a hot tub, understandably the last thing you will think about is how when, and how often you’re going to have to clean it.

A simple cleaning regime for cleaning a standard hot tub includes balancing the chemicals, cleaning the acrylic shell, and ensuring the hot tub cleansed and safe for use. Unique to Hydropool are their range of Self-Clean hot tubs, that takes away much of the daily maintenance. Any debris is removed by both the high flow skimmer and for heavier debris the HydroClean floor vacuum. The pressurised micro-filtration system quickly filters 100% of the water in 15 minutes, ensuring crystal clear water whenever you want to get in your hot tub.

SIZE MATTERS?

How many people will be regularly enjoying your hot tub at once? How much space do you have? These are a couple of questions you need to ask when considering the size of your hot tub.

Popular advice to consider is to select the smallest hot tub you can, ensuring you get the most features and quality for your budget. Most people only use their hot tub for entertaining occasionally, therefore not really justifying a larger model. Therefore you may want to consider who is typically going to be using your hot tub.

Finally, consider the actual space that you have to place your hot tub. Ideally, you’ll need 12” of clearance on three sides of the hot tub and a minimum of 18” around the side where the control panel sits.
